Spiritual Life Coaching with Jenna Volpe

Spiritual Life Coaching

Spiritual life coaching is for those who are hoping to connect with your higher self and spirit guides, gain clarity on your dharma (life purpose), build and strengthen your relationship with our divine creator, identify and hone your innate spiritual gifts, improve relationships with family/friends, and/or develop and strengthen your intuition.

What is a Spiritual Life Coach?

Working with a spiritual life coach may help you to find a deeper sense of alignment, fulfillment, meaning, and purpose in your life.

This is because most, if not all, spiritual coaches believe that everything and everyone are somewhat connected, and that everything happens for a reason.  (There’s no such thing as coincidence, if you ask me!).

Spiritual coaches generally tend to believe that each of us is here on earth in order to learn specific lessons, fulfill soul contracts/missions, and more.

The potential benefits and outcomes of working with a spiritual life coach will vary greatly, depending on your unique goals, life circumstances, the duration of your time together, and of course the type of spiritual coach or guide you decide to work with.

Types of spiritual life coaches

There are infinite types of spiritual coaches practicing through a combination of teaching, preaching, coaching, motivational interviewing, and more.

Certified versus no certification

Some are certified and some are not. However, certification doesn’t necessarily reflect a coach’s level of competence and ability to help you as most spiritual coaches choose this path because it’s a gift and a calling.

Most if not all spiritual life coaches also happen to be very intuitive.

Religious versus “spiritual”

It’s important to note that while religious coaches are all considered spiritual, not all spiritual coaches are affiliated with an organized religion.

Many modern-day spiritual coaches (like yours truly) practice a more universal type of coaching which takes into account universal laws and principles governing humanity on the energetic level (such as the universal law of karma, the universal law of dharma, and the law of attraction to name a few!).

Many spiritual coaches also identify as healers.  This means we may offer a diverse array of energy healing modalities which can go hand-in-hand with the coaching sessions, to optimize your outcomes. (More on this below!)

What does a spiritual life coach do? (What to expect)

While every type of spiritual coach has their own unique approach, there’s some overlap in terms of what you can expect.

1-1 and/or group coaching sessions

Working with a spiritual coach may be 1-1, group, or a hybrid model.

Either way, live coaching sessions will serve to help facilitate and guide your transformation and awakening.

For example, some sessions may be spent reflecting, while others may entail answering a series of open-ended questions that spark insights, awaken new perspectives, and encourage you to turn inward, unlocking the answers within yourself.

The sessions can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, but I’ve found most spiritual coaching session durations are within the range of ~60 to 90 minutes.

In-person or virtual?

Coaching sessions may be in-person or virtual, or a hybrid of both.

(When in doubt, check the coach’s services page on the website – or just ask!) 😉

In my private practice, all types of coaching sessions are currently 100% virtual.

Spiritual life coaching tools, resources, and assignments

Coaches will never tell you what to do!  Rather, we will listen, tune in, and equip you with the right tools and questions that help you to more easily access your own inner wisdom.

For example, your spiritual coach may provide custom guided meditations (live or recorded), journaling prompts, dream recall, new daily/weekly rituals, and/or other types of assignments to help spark clarity, insights, and inspiration.

Healing modalities

Many but not all spiritual coaches may also offer 1-1 healing sessions alongside the coaching sessions to help complement, enhance, and accelerate your progress.

For example, in my healing practice, I find that spiritual life coaching goes hand-in-hand with the following modalities:

Additional modalities which may be offered by other spiritual life coaches include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Psychedelic therapy
  • Somatic experiencing
  • Shaman rituals
  • Yoga routines
  • Neuroplasticity and brain re-training
  • Myofascial release therapy
  • Craniosacral therapy
  • Integrative energy therapy (IET)
  • Muscle testing
  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Tarot
  • Psychic mediumship
  • And more!

Areas of focus

As you embark on spiritual life coaching, your area(s) of focus can be something very specific or they can be broad, depending on where you’re at and what you need.

Generally speaking, almost anything goes – as long as you and your coach are being safe and responsible. (Some areas of focus may also need clinical supervision and support from doctors and licensed mental health providers, as needed!)

Below are some common examples the different areas of life and focus that can be covered in spiritual life coaching sessions:

  • Releasing old behavioral patterns that no longer serve you
  • Overcoming limiting beliefs and mindset blocks that have been holding you back
  • Breaking free from energy vampires and narcissists
  • Navigating life as an empath
  • Navigating your way through a Dark Night of the Soul
  • Navigating a Kundalini awakening
  • Developing and honing your innate spiritual gifts (like intuition, clairvoyance, clairsentience, and more)
  • Addressing depression or anxiety
  • Working through grief
  • Resolving trauma
  • Overcoming addiction and/or eating disorder behaviors
  • Healing the “Witch Wound”
  • Releasing trapped emotions
  • Gaining clarity on your career path
  • Uncovering your dharma (aka your life purpose or your soul’s mission)
  • Addressing ancestral trauma
  • Connecting to your Higher Self / subconscious
  • Connecting to God / divine source / higher power / the “Universe”
  • Manifesting abundance and prosperity
  • Navigating big life changes and decisions with more certainty
  • Develop your own daily habits and rituals for personal growth and empowerment

Sometimes sessions may lead to significant breakthroughs, while other sessions may be helping to prime you and prepare you for future changes, transformations and breakthroughs.

Regardless, a spiritual coach will always meet you where you’re at, and you’ll receive what you’re ready for.

Choosing a spiritual coach: factors to consider

When it comes to choosing a spiritual life coach, you’ve got options, my friend!

There’s a HUGE pool of spiritual coaches to choose from – and each of us has something unique to offer.  (“Decision fatigue” and “analysis paralysis” can be an understatement, to say the least!)

Below are some general criteria I’ve compiled to help you narrow down your options.

While certification doesn’t necessarily mean a coach is qualified or unqualified to help you, it’s important to make sure that a spiritual coach has been vetted with the right training, experience, and great reviews.

For example:

  • What kind of training and experience does this person have? How long have they been in this field?
  • What do other clients have to say about this coach?  Are there any Google/Yelp reviews?
  • Has this coach been able to help others to achieve outcomes similar to what you’re looking for?
  • What does their free content indicate about the type of transformation they can potentially facilitate?

Word-of-mouth referrals are also invaluable; these mean someone you know and trust has already vetted a spiritual coach for you!

But the screening criteria doesn’t stop here; there’s more to consider before taking the leap.

Core values and beliefs

You can usually tell from checking out content on somebody’s website and/or social media platforms the types of beliefs and core values they hold.

Does the coach align with your core values and beliefs?

If so, maybe it’s worth booking a free discovery call to connect with them and see if you click! (If not, keep looking.)

Energy and vibe

The purpose of a free discovery call is to help you assess the overall energy and vibe of your coach.

  • Do you click with them?
  • Does this person make you feel safe and comfortable when talking with them?
  • Do you vibrate on a similar wavelength?
  • Are they trustworthy?

If so, these are good signs!

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between a life coach vs spiritual coach?

There are many different types of life coaches, and a spiritual life coach is a type of life coach.

Life coaches may or may not also be spiritual, but all spiritual coaches may assist you in different areas of life.

Life coach vs therapist – how are they different?

A therapist is someone who is formally trained, board-certified and licensed as an accredited healthcare provider in the field of mental health.  A therapist may be credentialed as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), a licensed social worker (LICSW), or a doctor of psychology (PsyD).

Life coaches may or may not have training and certification; the coaching industry is not currently regulated and there’s no formal accreditation required to practice as a life coach. However, most successful life coaches do have ample training and experience, with or without certifications.

Therapy generally entails more talking, listening, and processing, while coaching sessions are more action-oriented, with an ultimate goal of facilitating behavior change.

In a nutshell, coaching is what integrates the “knowing” (thoughts) to the “doing” (actions and behavioral changes).  So coaching is a great next step for when you’re ready to start taking action on your journey.

The lines of coaching and therapy are very blurry as there’s a lot of overlap – but coaching is more intuitive and less clinical.

On a spiritual level, spiritual coaches often integrate spiritual modalities which can help bypass mental/emotional blocks that arise in therapy.

Coaching should never replace therapy; it is meant to complement and enhance therapy from an integrative health standpoint.

What is the best spiritual coach certification?

There are many hundreds (if not thousands) of spiritual coaching certification options out there, and what’s best for you may be different than what is best for others.  It’s all about what you’re seeking in the certification.

Once you’ve gotten your feet wet in this field, and you’re open to making a bigger investment (time-wise and financially), you may eventually want to check out one of the following life coach certifications to strengthen your foundation as a coach:

Life coach pricing:  How much does a spiritual life coach cost?

Every type of coach is going to have totally different price ranges and offerings.

Coaching sessions may be available a-la-carte or in packages/outcome-based programs.

For example, the investment of working with a spiritual life coach can range from $100 per hour to $5000 for ~6 months, and everything in  between.

A standard rate for spiritual coaching programs is ~$1200-1500 for 3 months of coaching, in a program or package structure with regular meetings 2 to 4 times per month.

I recommend checking the website and/or make sure to ask about this on a discovery call, if this information isn’t included on a coach’s website.

Final thoughts

Spiritual life coaching can be an empowering, complementary addition to therapy and/or energy healing, if you’re seeking clarity and breakthroughs in almost any area of your life.

The key is to find a qualified, trustworthy coach who aligns with your core values, specializes in what you need, and vibrates on your wavelength.
